Site location and context
This natural park has a great diversity of plant species, many of them endemic. It is one of the parks with the greatest diversity of endemic plant species in the entire Cape Verde archipelago. Cova, Ribeira da Torre and Ribeira do Paúl Natural Park is undoubtedly the most representative sample of humid mountain ecosystems on the island and one of the most important agricultural ecosystems in Cabo Verde. It is an area characterized by mountain ranges, volcanic craters, agricultural valleys and plateaus. There is a forested area with exotic species (some species of Pinus, Cupressus and Acacia) and other types of habitats due to the different ranges of altitude and microclimates. 

Key biodiversity
The fauna found in this natural park is represented by some reptile species, such as Chioninia fogoensis antoensis, Tarentola caboverdiana caboverdiana, Hemydactylus brooki). Birds are represented by Neophron percnopterus, Buteo buteo bannermani, Falco tinnunculus neglectus, Passer iagoensis, Sylvia atricapilla, Sylvia conspicillata, Apus alexandri, Tyto alba detorta), Pterodroma feae and Puffinus lherminieri boydi. In terms of mammals, there is the bat species Miniopterus schreibersii.
