Site description (2002 baseline)
This IBA comprises a block of forest north-west of Nui Ba (Mount Lang Bian) and is centred on Mount Cong Troi. The area consists of gently sloping mountains covered in evergreen forest. Pinus insularis forest occurs on south-facing slopes and at generally lower altitudes. There are also extensive areas of secondary scrub and bamboo, vegetation types which have developed after forest clearance and disturbance. Threats to biodiversity at Cong Troi include clearance of forest for agriculture, hunting and over-exploitation of non-timber forest products.
Key biodiversity
Cong Troi qualifies for inclusion within the Da Lat Plateau Endemic Bird Area due to the presence of five of the bird species restricted to this EBA: Collared Laughingthrush Garrulax yersini, Yellow-billed Nuthatch Sitta solangiae, Black-hooded Laughingthrush Garrulax milleti, White-cheeked Laughingthrush Garruax vassali and Vietnamese Greenfinch Carduelis monguilotti.
