Site description (2009 baseline)
Located in the northern part of the Hengduan Shan mountains. The IBA has high mountains and river valleys, and at 3,000-3,400 m there are dry river valleys, at 3,400-4,300 m there is Picea likiangensis forest on shaded slopes and Juniperus chinesis forest is dominant on sunny slopes, and at higher altitudes there is alpine scrub and grassland.
Key biodiversity
Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals including Macaca mulatta, Selenarctos thibetanus, Cervus albirostris and Cervus elaphus.
