Site description (2005 baseline)
The area consists of four carp fishpond complexes (Siscani, Blatnica, Narta and Vuksinac) with well developed emergent and floating vegetation, surrounded by pedunculate oak forest, wet meadows and mosaic landscape. The fishponds are an important breeding area for waterbirds. Main threats are possible loss of carp fishponds due to abandonment of fish production, agricultural intensification, intensified forest management and excessive or illegal hunting.
