Site description (2000 baseline)
A wide plain to the south of the River Tiétar with many creeks and small ponds. The reservoir is surrounded by extensive dehesas and areas of grassland and arable cultivation.
Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding herons and raptors and wintering Grus grus. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aquila adalberti (resident).
