Site description (2000 baseline)
Formerly a fjord but now largely agricultural with the exception of a small lake surrounded by reedbeds (less than 5% of the total area) and meadows. Small plantations, mostly coniferous, are also present.

Key biodiversity
This is an important staging area for Anser anser and Branta leucopsis. Several species listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive breed at the site, including Circus aeruginosus, Porzana porzana and Lanius collurio.
