Site description (2004 baseline)
Remnants of the open coastal flood-plain meadows around lake Burtnieks. A new site formed by thereduction of the former lake Burtnieks IBA, listed since 2000 [2, 1]. High protection level: there is a 95% overlap with the newly designated lake Burtnieks meadows restricted nature reserve, a candidate SPA. The gap between IBA and pSPA boundaries is mostly due to differences in boundary setting.
