Buliuhe Nature Reserve

Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in the south-western part of Tian’e County, at the edge of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The eastern and western sections of the IBA are mountains, with the Buliu He river running through the centre. Patches of fir forest and commercially-exploited forest cover 5% of the IBA. The increased water level caused by the construction of a dam for a hydro-electric plant has had a serious impact on birds.

Animals include Python molurus, Macaca assamensis, Macaca mulatta, Macaca thibetana, Manis pentadactyla, Selenarctos thibetanus, Panthera pardus, Felis temmincki, Viverra zibetha and Moschus berezovskii.
