Site summary
This is a hilly area located in the geographical unit Bukovské vrchy in northeast Slovakia. The dominant forest type is Carpathian beech forest Prevailing habitats are deciduous forests and agricultural land (fields, meadows and pastures). Well-preserved forest ecosystem and various mosaics of non-forest communities provide favourable conditions for the breeding of forest and meadow bird species. The area is one of the five most important nesting sites for Hazel Grouse, Nightjar, and Corncrake in Slovakia. The main threat to the birds is intensive forestry. The site is proposed as an SPA.
