Site description (2003 baseline):
Site location and context
Describe as hilly limestone area which was forested in 1980s. This area is alocated for water catchment area, but illegal logging probably has cut down part of the forest.
Non-bird biodiversity: Hylobates syndactylus, Naemorhedus sumatraensis, Panthera tigris and Tapirus indicus are listed as important fauna at this area (FAO 1982, Anon 1995).
Lowland evergreen forest (50%), secondary forest and rubber plantation (30%), shifting agriculture area (20%). The percentage value based on estimation.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Illegal logging, clearence forest and infrastructure development.
Proposed as Nature Reserve in NCP (FAO 1982).
