Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A chain of limestone hills covered by
Quercus woodland and scrub. The main human activities are livestock-farming and cork harvesting (`Other' land-use, below).
The site is a major migratory bottleneck, where 20,000 storks and raptors regularly pass.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is from infrastructural developments, including a new road and windmills for wind-power. There are additional problems from illegal building and illegal hunting. There is a management plan for the Natural Park.
