Bujeo, Ojén, del Niño and Blanquilla mountain ranges


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A chain of limestone hills covered by Quercus woodland and scrub. The main human activities are livestock-farming and cork harvesting (`Other' land-use, below).



Key biodiversity
The site is a major migratory bottleneck, where 20,000 storks and raptors regularly pass.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is from infrastructural developments, including a new road and windmills for wind-power. There are additional problems from illegal building and illegal hunting. There is a management plan for the Natural Park.



Protected areas
National High International High42,100 ha of IBA covered by Natural Park (Los Alcornocales, 170,025 ha). 42,100 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Los Alcornocales, 170,025 ha).
