Site location and context
An area of ponds and marshes with reedbeds (Phragmites), heathland and deciduous woodland.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for wetland and reedbed breeding species.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Land abandonment, destruction of aquatic vegetation and pond creation for hunting purposes are the major factors degrading the site.



Protected areas
National None International High6,600 ha of IBA covered by Ramsar Site (La Brenne, 140,000 ha).
