Bornos reservoir


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A reservoir on the River Guadalete surrounded by maquis, grasslands and arable cultivation. At one end of the reservoir there is a large expanse of Tamarix.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding herons.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is from agricultural intensification which is leading to increased sedimentation and pesticide pollution of the water.



Protected areas
National Partial International None630 ha of IBA covered by Natural Landscape (Cola del Embalse de Bornos, 630 ha).
