Site location and context
A reservoir on the River Guadalete surrounded by maquis, grasslands and arable cultivation. At one end of the reservoir there is a large expanse of
Tamarix.
This is an important site for breeding herons.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is from agricultural intensification which is leading to increased sedimentation and pesticide pollution of the water.
