Bonden Island


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A rocky island located 20 km off the Swedish coast. There is no vegetation, and numerous blocks of stone of varying size form breeding sites for auks.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding seabirds.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Unknown numbers of unauthorized visitors land on the island during the protected period (1 April to 1 July). Regular auk counts are undertaken.



Protected areas
National High International High5 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Bonden, 400 ha). 5 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (400 ha).
