Site description (2000 baseline):

An area of deciduous and mixed wet woodland which is under intensive forest management.

Apart from important numbers of breeding Ciconia nigra, the area is also rich in breeding woodpecker species, and rare species of owl may breed as well.

National Low International None144 ha of IBA covered by Botanical Reserve (Biržø Giria, 144 ha).
