A mountainous region with cliffs, large and small mountain lakes, glaciers and snow-fields.
Breeding birds include five of the 10 species in Europe that are restricted (when breeding) to the Eurasian high-montane biome.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The area is a candidate Special Area for Conservation.

International HighIBA overlaps with National Park. IBA overlaps with Special Protection Area.
