Site description (2009 baseline)
Located at the north-western tip of Tibet. Bangong Co is an elongated lake of 60,400 ha. The islets in the lake, the largest of which is 100 ha, are important breeding areas for birds.
Key biodiversity
Non-bird biodiversity: The area supports Ursus arctos, Panthra uncia, Equus kiang and Pantholops hodgsoni.
