Baihua Shan Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in the western part of Beijing, on the southern slopes of the Yan Shan mountains. The IBA is isolated from human disturbance and protected from logging, and it has well-developed natural broadleaf forest, coniferous plantation, natural scrub and grassland. Vegetation cover is over 70%.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Panthera pardus, Vulpes vulpes, Mustela sibirica and Naemorhedus goral.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve (1,700 ha) in 1985.
