Site description (2009 baseline)
Located 240 km east of Kashi City and 850 km south-west of Urumqi. The IBA is at the confluence of the Yarkant and Kaxgar rivers, and includes Xiaohaizhi and Honghaizi reservoirs.
Key biodiversity
Non-bird biodiversity: The area supports the fish Pelochelys bibroni, and animals include Vulpes vulpes, Euchoreutes naso and Dipus sagitta.
