Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
An area of dry, cultivated plains with grasslands, small patches of
Quercus woodland and dehesas. The main human activities are cereal and livestock-farming, hunting, and some mining.
This is an important area for wintering
Grus grus and for breeding steppic species.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Localized poaching of nests, poisoning, and illegal hunting occurs. There is occasional disturbance of breeding birds by forestry work.
