Site description (2016 baseline):
Site location and context
The site is included in the Guinea-Bissau Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The site contains the Bolama-Bijagós UNESCO-MAB Biosphere Reserve.
Seaward extension of important colonies of Royal Tern, Caspian Tern, Slender-billed Gull and Grey-headed Gull. All the previous species tigger IBA criteria: Royal Tern (LC) 52135-86893 individuals, Caspian Tern (LC) 360-600 individuals and Slender-billed Gull (LC) 10000-10000 individuals.
The site contains the Bolama-Bijagós UNESCO-MAB Biosphere Reserve and overlaps partially with the Cacheu River Mangroves Natural Park (Parque Natural dos Tarrafes do Rio Cacheu).
