Site location and context
As at January 2021, this marine IBA is completely or primarily within CCAMLR subarea: 88.1 , and CCAMLR MPA planning domain: 8

Key biodiversity
2 species triggers IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. An estimated 38871 - 178557 Adelie Penguins and 2573 - 8102 Emperor Penguins primarily from 9 and 3 colonies (as per the analysis) are present at the site during the chick-rearing period (ADP Dec-Feb, EMP Aug - Dec), respectively. Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Primary threats believed to be having population and site level impacts to penguin species in this marine IBA: Climate Change

Protected areas
Jan 2021: marine IBA is afforded protection via the Ross Sea Region MPA.
