Site location and context
As at January 2021, this marine IBA is completely or primarily within CCAMLR subarea: 48.6 , and CCAMLR MPA planning domain: 4

Key biodiversity
1 species triggers IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. An estimated 2568 - 6870 Emperor Penguins primarily from 1 colony (as per the analysis) are present at the site during the chick-rearing period (Aug-Dec). Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Primary threats believed to be having population and site level impacts to penguin species in this marine IBA: Climate Change

Protected areas
Jan 2021: marine IBA could be afforded further protection if a Marine Protected Area within the Weddell Sea Marine Protected Area Phase 2 Planning Area is implemented
