Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A bay with sandy beaches, saltwater lagoons and marshes, mudflats, rivers, ponds, wet meadows, small woodlands, grassland, and arable land.
The site holds 20,000 or more waterbirds in winter, on a regular basis.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The site is threatened by drainage, cultivation, the inadequate management of water-levels and high hunting pressure.
The rate of drainage within the SPA area has been reduced by agri-environmental schemes but the threat remains.

International Partial185 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Le Marais d'Yves, 185 ha). 800 ha of IBA covered by Hunting Reserve (Anse de Fouras, 1,800 ha) 8,926 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Marais de Fouras, Baie d'Yves et Marais de Rochefort, 11,676 ha).
