Site description (2001 baseline):
Site location and context
The site consists of a small bay with a relatively low mangrove (8 m high), mudflats and some sand beaches. Some seasonal rivers flow into the bay. Around the mangrove, there are a few small patches of dry forest.
See Box and Table 3 for key species. Nineteen species are known from the site, of which one is endemic to Madagascar. Several pairs of
Haliaeetus vociferoides nest at the site.
