Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
The site is situated south and east of the town of Halden, in south-eastern Norway. Coniferous forest covers most of the area, and lakes and minor bogs are abundant. Only eight of the lakes are larger than 2 km
2, with Lake Femsjø being the largest (11 km
2). Most of the lakes are nutrient-poor.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The `Other' threat is acid rain. The Nature Reserve lies adjacent to Tresticklan National Park in Sweden, which encloses Lake Søndre Boksjø.
