Site description (2000 baseline)
The site is situated south and east of the town of Halden, in south-eastern Norway. Coniferous forest covers most of the area, and lakes and minor bogs are abundant. Only eight of the lakes are larger than 2 km2, with Lake Femsjø being the largest (11 km2). Most of the lakes are nutrient-poor.
