Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
An inaccessible area of gorges and sea cliffs, dominated by scrub. Human activities include livestock-farming and limited arable agriculture.



Key biodiversity
The site is important for raptors and species associated with cliffs and scrub.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The scale of the threat posed by hunting is currently unknown. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.



Protected areas
National Partial International None650 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Stenies-M. Ag. Nikolaou/Androu, 650 ha). 1,700 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Steno Kothiou, 1,700 ha). 470 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Kolympar-Zagarniari/Palaiopoleas-Pitrofou-Messarias, 470 ha). 250 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Reserve (Synetiou/Synetiou-Androu, 250 ha).
