Site description (2000 baseline)
A steppe area in central Sardinia, between the villages of Abbasanta and Macomer, crossed by numerous streams and rich in small, temporary wetlands. The site also includes the upper valley of the Tirso river and Lago Omodeo, an artificial lake that is temporarily dry. The main land-use is grazing.

Key biodiversity
An important site for breeding Tetrax tetrax and for wintering Burhinus oedicnemus.
