Site location and context
Large plantations (coniferous and deciduous) on former heathland with glades and many, mostly small, wetlands with bogs and water-fringe vegetation.
The only known breeding site in Denmark for
Aegolius funereus (max. 2 pairs). Other species listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive that breed at the site include
Pernis apivorus,
Milvus milvus, Grus grus, Aegolius funereus, Caprimulgus europaeus, Dryocopus martius and
Lanius collurio.

International High6,090 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Almindingen, 6,090 ha).
