Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A mountainous area with Quercus woodland, dehesas, and extensive areas of scrub. The main human activities are game hunting, livestock-grazing, apiculture and cork harvesting (`Other' land-use, below).



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding raptors, particularly Aquila adalberti. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aegypius monachus (2 resident pairs).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from the use of pesticides, hunting, including the use of poison, and forestry plantations.



Protected areas
National Low International None534 ha of IBA covered by Natural Landscape (Cascada de Cimbarra, 534 ha). 4,045 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Río Guadalén, 4,045 ha).
