Akzhan Lake

IBA Justification

The site was identified as internationally important for bird conservation in 2007 because it was regularly supporting significant populations of the species listed below, meeting ('triggering') IBA criteria.

Populations meeting IBA criteria ('trigger species') at the site:
Species Red List Season (year/s of estimate) Size IBA criteria
Red-breasted Goose Branta ruficollis VU passage (2004) 102 birds A1
Greylag Goose Anser anser LC passage (1998) 7,500 birds A4i
Greater White-fronted Goose Anser albifrons LC passage (2004) 12,000 birds A4i
Lesser White-fronted Goose Anser erythropus VU passage (2004) 36 birds A1
Little Gull Hydrocoloeus minutus LC breeding (1998) 1,500 pairs A4i
A4iii Species group - waterbirds n/a passage (2004) 20,000-49,999 birds A4iii

IBA Conservation

Ideally the conservation status of the IBA will have been checked regularly since the site was first identified in 2007. The most recent assessment (2015) is shown below.

IBA conservation assessment
Year of assessment State Pressure Response
2015 moderate medium not assessed
Whole site assessed? State assessed by Accuracy of information
