Site description (2000 baseline)
A large, mountainous area in the central Apennines, including the National Park and the adjacent Gole del Sagittario. The main habitats are broadleaved and mixed woodlands, scrub, alpine grasslands, streams, rivers and small lakes, cliffs and gorges. The main land-uses are nature conservation, cultivation, stock-farming and tourism.
Key biodiversity
The site is important for breeding raptors, woodpeckers and other species of mountain or forest.
