General characteristics
This tiny atoll lies c.300 km north-east of the main Solomon Islands, to which it belongs politically (see map, p. 596). It holds a population of Atoll Starling Aplonis feadensis, a restricted-range species of forest, forest edge and coconut groves which also occurs on tiny islands in the Bismarck archipelago (EBA 195) to the west (Coates 1990).
