General characteristics
The mountain slopes and hillsides of the Namibian escarpment extending into extreme southern Angola support the endemic Herero Chat Namibornis herero (a monotypic genus), which favours areas of mixed Acacia and Commiphora trees (Maclean 1984). Part of its range lies close to that of Dune Lark Certhilauda erythrochlamys (see Secondary Area s046), but the distributions of the two species do not overlap, and they occur in different habitat types, so the two areas are not considered to comprise an EBA.
