Country/Territory | Nigeria |
The lower Niger watershed in southern Nigeria (see map, p. 306) supports one restricted-range species, the threatened Anambra Waxbill Estrilda poliopareia (classified as Vulnerable). It is known from only four localities, where it has been found in long grass and herbage along rivers and on lagoon sandbanks, and it may be under pressure from habitat degradation (Ash and Sharland 1986, Ash 1987, 1990).
