Country/Territory | Algeria |
This Secondary Area is defined by the range of the threatened Algerian Nuthatch Sitta ledanti (classified as Endangered), which is found in broadleaf and mixed broadleaf-coniferous forest between 350 and 2,000 m (Harrap and Quinn 1996). It is known from four localities (Chalabi 1989, Bellatreche and Chalabi 1990, Bellatreche 1991, Harrap 1992), and, although two of these lie within national parks, the species is threatened throughout by deforestation (Zaimeche 1994).
