Justification of Red List category
This species is classified as Near Threatened because although it occurs widely on the Palau Archipelago it is scarce throughout much of its range and is thought to have a moderately small population.

Population size: 600-1700 mature individuals

Population trend: Stable

Distribution size (breeding/resident): 460 km2

Country endemic: Yes
