Site description (2000 baseline)
A fertile coastal wetland close to the town of Kokkola. Due to continuous geological uplifting of the land, the site holds several habitats at various successional stages, including wet meadows with low vegetation, scrub, young deciduous forests and nutrient-poor Pinus sylvestris forests. The area has been managed actively by cutting bushes and cattle-grazing on the tall grass.

Key biodiversity
An important congregatory area for migrating waterbirds.
