Site description (2001 baseline)
The IBA is found in the deep depression located on the boundary of Stavropol region and Kalmykiya Republic.
Key biodiversity
Large numbers of waterfowl, including hundreds of thousands of geese and ducks, pass through the area (at night).All available data relates to the parts of the IBA falling within the Kalmyk Republic and Stavropol region. It is possible that another IBA will be identifed in the future covering the western part of the Manych lake system (Rostov region).
