Site description (2000 baseline)
The site covers a reach of the River Danube between Szob and Budapest, and includes Szentendre island and adjacent flood-plains. The area is densely populated and one of the most popular areas for recreation in Hungary.

Key biodiversity
The site is especially important for wintering diving ducks and geese (Anatidae). A total of 210 bird species have been recorded in the area, with the majority occurring on passage.
