Site description (2009 baseline)
Located in south-west Hongya County. The vegetation shows prominent vertical zonation, with subtropical broadleaf evergreen forest from 1,100-1,800 m, broadleaf evergreen and deciduous mixed forest from 1,800-2,400 m, coniferous-broadleaf mixed forest from 2,400-2,600 m, and coniferous forest above 2,600 m.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Ailurpoda melanolenca, Panthera pardus, Neofelis nebulosa, Ailurus fulgens, Macaca mulatta, Viverra zibetha, Felis temmincki, Moschus berezovskii and Budorcas taxicolor.
