Site description (2007 baseline)
The Tamagawa river running through the central region of Akita Prefecture is the biggest tributary of the Omonogawa river. In the neighborhood of Uguisuno, the river has been straightened to run linearly, and paddy fields stretch inside the banks. In the lower riverbed are small sandbars and “WANDO†(small riverside inlets), however no wide dry riverbed exists. Some reed beds and Salix forests are found here and there, in the lower and higher dry riverbed area within banks.
