Site description (2019 baseline)
The most significant landscape feature of the IBA is the almost pristine 33 km long course of the Tamiš river with its vast flood areas and salt marshes, situated between municipalities of Zrenjanin and Kovačica. Significant parts of this unique ecosystem are vast fishponds in Baranda (1.005 ha), as well as Uzdin (430 ha) and Čenta (120 ha). Preserved riparian forests still exist in large patches along the Tamiš river, but are also vast areas with cultivated poplars.
