Site description (2007 baseline)
The island of Tiree lies in the Inner Hebrides of western Scotland, 17 km west of Mull in Argyll and Bute. Sleibhtean agus Cladach Thiriodh (Tiree Wetlands and Coast) consists of several areas of wetland, including habitats such as machair, heath and freshwater lochs, and extensive sections of the coastline, taking in the islet of Soa. The wetland areas support roost sites of significant numbers of wintering Greenland Branta leucopsis, Greenland Anser albifrons flavirostris, as well as breeding terns, waders and waterbirds.
