Site description (2019 baseline)
The IBA represents a vast lowland area in the Banat region of the Vojvodina Province, situated within the municipalities of Novi Bečej and Kikinda. The area is formed from the loess plateau of the neighbouring Tisa river and has some of the largest and best preserved complexes of salt marshes in the country, intersected with intensively cultivated agricultural fields and irrigation channels.
