Site summary
This area of lowlands and gentle downs is situated on the border of Podunajská pahorkatina and Trnavská pahorkatina. The prevailing habitats are intensively used arable land with rivers, open water and wetlands. Most important human activities include intensive agriculture, hunting, sport-fishing and gravel extraction. This is an important nesting area for birds of prey, which require an open agricultural landscape, as well as water birds and migrating birds. Agrochemicals and fertilizers used in intensive agriculture, together with timber production, hunting and the drainage of natural habitats create the most serious threats to birds. The site is proposed as an SPA.
