Site description (2019 baseline)
Prokletije are an impressive mountain massif of the Dinaric mountains in the Balkan Peninsula, stretching over three countries (Serbia, Albania, Montenegro), with 150 peaks over 2.000 m in altitude. The IBA is situated in the region of Kosovo and Metohija, within the municipalities of Peć, Dečani and Đakovica. It is characterized by numerous steep rocky slopes with scarce vegetation, gorges and canyons and vast alpine pastures with creeping pines, as well as glacial lakes, of which 5 are located on Đeravica (2.656 m), the highest peak in Serbia.
