Site description (2009 baseline)
Located on the northern slopes of the Kunlun Mountains, 160 km north north-west of Hotan City and 1,050 km south-west of Urumqi. The ancient silk road passed through this area. The only known specimen of the Data Deficient Caprimulgus centralasicus in the world was collected in this area in 1929.
Key biodiversity
Non-bird biodiversity: Animals include Vulpes vulpes, Gazella subgutturosa, Euchoreutes naso and Dipus sagitta.
