Site description (2002 baseline)
This IBA comprises Phuoc Binh proposed nature reserve. The proposed nature reserve is located on the eastern edge of the Da Lat plateau and is contiguous with Bi Dup-Nui Ba Nature Reserve. The topography of the site is dominated by several high peaks in the west of the site. The east of the site decreases in elevation towards the coastal plain of south-central Vietnam. Phuoc Binh proposed nature reserve supports a range of forest types, including mixed timber and bamboo forest, coniferous forest and evergreen forest. In addition, there are large areas of agricultural land distributed along the Da May and Ta Hop streams in the south-east of the site.

Key biodiversity
Phuoc Binh lies within the Da Lat plateau Endemic Bird Area (EBA). Five of the restricted-range species that occur in this IBA are found at the proposed nature reserve, including Collared Laughingthrush Garrulax yersini and Crested Argus Rheinardia ocellata.

Non-bird biodiversity: The most significant mammal records at Phuoc Binh are Yellow-cheeked Crested Gibbon Nomascus gabrielle, Gaur Bos gaurus and Southern Serow Naemorhedus sumatraensis. Phuoc Binh proposed nature reserve also supports populations of the following threatened gymnosperm species: Pinus krempfii, P. dalatensis, Fokienia hodginsii and Podocarpus neriifolius (Eames and Nguyen Cu, 1994).
